What's new at Hope.

  1. Citywide Prayer Meeting on September 14th Led by Jim Cymbala at Hyde Park Baptist

Come join in the citywide prayer hosted by Hyde Park Baptist Church (3901 Speedway, 78759) on Thursday, September 14th at 7:00 PM. Our city welcomes Jim Cymbala, senior pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, that night. Jim is the author of several books including Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire: What Happens When God’s Spirit Invades the Hearts of His People, a Christian book of the year.

Jim says in an article on prayer, “Let us evaluate the real prospects for a revival of the prayer meeting. According to Paul, it is possible to bring the Church back to God’s priorities. ‘First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men.’ from 1 Timothy 2:1. Whether in preparation for a fresh, powerful move of the Spirit or whether as a sign of an ongoing present revival of the Spirit – the prayer meeting will be paramount in the life of the Church. Hungry, sincere seekers of God will pour out their heart’s desire to Him in corporate prayer. Worship and praise will spontaneously ascend from the spirits of men and women who have seen Him who is invisible.”

  6. World Welcome Opportunities!

The end of summer is near, and with that comes a rush of University students back into Austin gearing up for another year. Around 6000 of these students come from all over the world and have basic needs that we can meet as the hands and feet of Jesus.

Watch this video, or read below!

    Friendship Family/ Individual:

You can become a support and a friend to one, or many, international students looking for a connection! Show them around Austin, invite them into your home for a meal, take them grocery shopping… there are many ways to connect with a student!

ESL Conversation Partners or English classes:

You can meet with a student to intentionally help them practice their English, or take on a group of students and lead an English class. Hope Chapel has plenty of resources for this, so teaching degree not required.

World Welcome will also be facilitating regular gatherings for international students interested in staying connected. We would love to have Hope-ites participating in these activities as well.
