  1. Titus 2: Teach Sound Doctrine. Be clear.  Christ is life for the broken world.

    Teach Sound Doctrine (ESV)

1But as for you, teach what accords with sounda doctrine. 2Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. 6Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. 9Bondservantsb are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

We want to point to the exalted Christ.  He is highly exalted.  Because the Gospel is precious.  The message we bare is that important.  We proclaim Christ and he’s the one who saves people.  Jesus Christ is precious.  The grass fades and the flower withers but the Word of our God stands forever.  Be clear.  Christ is life for the broken world.

  2. Christian Leadership: Instruct with Sound Doctrine, Rebuke False Teachers

    Titus 1:10-16

10 For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said,

Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle [i]gluttons.

13 This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be [j]sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

The Steadfast Love of the Lord

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,

    His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning, new every morning:

great is your faithfulness, O Lord

    great is your faithfulness!

    Praise Before My Breakthrough

I know the tension of the now, I don’t always understand
I don’t always get to see, Everything

When I’m holding up my hands, When I’m counting every breath
Lord, all I need to know is, You choose me, You choose me

I’ll praise before my breakthrough, ‘Til my song becomes my triumph
I will sing because I trust You, I will bring my heart, I will lift my song

When I’m listening for Your voice, And I’m shutting out the noise
I know that You will speak, Clearly

When I’m living out my faith, When I’m stepping on the sea
I know You take my hand, And walk with me, Walk with me

He who came in power, He will come again,

He who heals the sick, won’t He move again
He who raised the dead, won’t He raise again, And I will sing, I will sing

And I will sing because I trust You, And I’ll worship because I trust
I sing because I love You, And I’ll bring my heart, I will lift my song

    I Will Exalt You, Lord

Your Presence is all I need, It’s all I want, all I seek
Without it, without it there’s no meaning

Your Presence is the air I breathe, The song I sing, the love I need
Without it, without it I’m not living

I will exalt You, Lord, I will exalt You, Lord, There is no one like You God
I will exalt You, Lord, I will exalt You, Lord, No other name be lifted high

There will be no one like You, And no one beside You,                                        You alone are worthy of all praise

    Break Every Chain

There is power in the name of Jesus (3X)
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain (2X)

There’s an army rising up (3X)
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain (2X)

There is power in the name of Jesus (3X)
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain (2X)

There’s an army rising up (3X)
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain (2X)

I hear the chains falling, I hear the chains falling

Had It Not Been The Lord

Had it not been the Lord who is on our side, Had it not been the Lord who is on our side
The anger of the enemy would have swallowed us alive

Had it not been the Lord who is on our side

Blessed be The lord who would not give us up

Blessed be The Lord for His unfailing Love
The snare is broken and we have escaped,

Our help is in The name of The Lord, Blessed be The Lord

Had it not been the Lord who is on our side, Had it not been the Lord who is on our side
The water would have engulfed us, We would have surely died
Had it not been the Lord who is on our side

  5. Great Christian Leadership: Begin with The Who and Not The What

Great business leaders begin with The Who. Paul in Titus 1:5-9 tells Titus to set things in order and carefully choose the right people to lead the church.

    Titus 1:5-9

    Qualifications for Elders

This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife,[a] and his children are believers[b] and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer,[c] as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound[d] doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

  6. Lyrics for Worship on the Lawn 7/26

    Each Day

Each day…I grow a little nearer, Each day…He seems a little dearer

Each day…I grow a little nearer to the Lord

Each day…my path gets brighter, Each day…my load gets lighter

Each day…I grow a little nearer to the Lord

While on this pilgrim’s journey a servant I will be

Oh each day (each day) I grow a little nearer to Thee

My friends talk about me but that don’t bother me
Because each day (Each day) I grow a little nearer to the Lord

You know when trouble overtakes me, Right by my side He’ll be
Yes, each day (each day) I grow a little nearer to Thee

Yes, I know he’s water when I’m thirsty
A shelter, Lord, for me, And each day (each day) I grow a little nearer to the Lord

    Waiting Here For You

If faith can move the mountains, let the mountains move

We come with expectation, waiting here for You, Waiting here for You

You’re the Lord of all Creation, and still you know my heart

The Author of salvation, You’ve loved me from the start

Waiting here for You, with our hands lifted high in praise

And it’s You, we adore, singing Alleluia

You are everything You’ve promised, Your faithfulness is true

We’re desperate for Your presence, All we need is You

Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word.

Just to rest upon His promise, just to know “Thus saith  the  Lord.”

Jesus, Jesus,  how I trust Him!  How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!  O for grace to trust  Him more!

how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust His cleansing blood.

Just in simple faith to plunge me, ‘neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease,

Just from Jesus simply taking, life and rest and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Him, precious Jesus, Savior, Friend.

And I know that He is with me, will be with me to the end.

    God is So Good

God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He’s so good to me

He answers prayer, (Hallelujah)…He’s so good to me!

I praise His name, (Hallelujah)…He’s so good to me!

The answer’s not to force a moral story, The answer’s not to bring back days of old

The answer is the King in all His glory, Come and take your throne

When times times are strange and righteousness seems complicated

When lies and truth are said to be more integrated

The Holy Ghost time after time has demonstrated, Jesus is alive

    You Reign Above It All

The reign of darkness now has ended, In the kingdom of light, In the kingdom of light
Forever under Your dominion, You’re the King of my life, You’re the King of my life

You reign above it all, You reign above it all, Over the universe
And over every heart, There is no higher name, Jesus You reign above it all

On the cross the work was finished, God You poured out Your life, Just to give us new life
Now from the lips of the forgiven, Hear an anthem arise, ‘Cause Jesus You’re alive

Let all of heaven and the earth erupt in song, Sing hallelujah to the Everlasting One
There is no higher name, Jesus You reign above it all, You reign above it all

You sent the darkness running, Out of an empty grave
Now seated alone in glory, Enthroned on the highest praise (4X)

    Goodness of God

I love You Lord, Oh Your mercy never fails me, All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up, Until I lay my head, I will sing of the goodness of God

All my life You have been faithful, All my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice, You have led me through the fire, In darkest nights

You are close like no other, I’ve known You as a father

I’ve known You as a friend, I have lived in the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me (2X)

With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now, I give You everything

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
